Garden nature updates, as we say farewell to July

The hot and dry weather during the middle of the month was good for butterflies and I’ve added comma, gatekeeper and holly blue to the list seen in the garden.

There’s also been a southern hawker dragonfly as well.

They’re very inquisitive and are attracted to small, well vegetated ponds for breeding.

Hopefully, that was the reason it was in our garden for so long, as my pond certainly ticks the boxes.
