12.40 p.m.
As always, on these type of blog entries, there’s an introductory video, that you can watch below.
Also, as always, feel free to comment. I’ll be posting regularly through the afternoon, so I’m just one click away.
1.00 p.m.
The water temperature is 12.1C, which is marginally down from 12.3C on Friday, when I fished here last.
I’m fishing the same approach, even the same spot, and you can see how I got on then by clicking here.
1.45 p.m.
Nothing to report, as of yet, on the fish front. There’s a chop on the surface and my rod is angled so that the tip is very low over the water.
This is your stereotypical windswept reservoir. You just need to be flexible and work around the conditions though. As in all types of weather, where there’s a will, there’s a way.
2.10 p.m.
A very slight movement on the rod tip and one of the two maggots was sucked. That’s what happened on my last visit. Roach plucks, followed by perch. Let’s hope it’s groundhog day.
3.10 p.m.
Another sucked maggot, so I am getting closer. Now that the clocks have gone back, it gets darker an hour earlier. Still plenty of time to net a nice perch yet though.
3.45 p.m.
A couple of slight perch plucks. Didn’t develop and no sucked maggots either, so another step towards a nice stripey on the bank.
It’s a huge water and unless you’re on the fish from the off, often a waiting game.
4.45 p.m.
At least I’m not a blanker! Plus, there’s still more fishing time left.

5.20 p.m.
Just the one fish but I enjoyed myself and that’s the most important thing. It’s a lovely venue, very quiet and picturesque. I’ll be back.
