Straight after work, instead of going east on the A5, I set off along the A483 into Montgomeryshire.
It was great to be back in Wales, in fact the first time since March, due to the lockdown.
Croeso i Gymru is the sign that greets you every time you cross the border. It means Welcome To Wales, and in the area I was in, you see it several times, as the border wiggles its way along.
You can follow the session below. Fishing with my mini-rod and reel, I had plenty of action. Mostly chub but also a bleak, gudgeon and a minnow.
The tackle I fished with was as follows: Poachers Pocket mini-rod and reel. Reel line was 4lb Maxima Chameleon.
The line went straight through to the hook, which was a Drennan Super Specialist micro barbed size 18.
The hook-length of six inches was created by a size 6 shot and 5mm bead, with a 1/4 ounce free-running bomb lead.
Bait was a single white maggot and I fed balls of brown crumb and mixed maggots.
I fished to an overhanging tree just downstream, allowing the current to pull the lead round.
