🎣 Enjoying my pike fishing  ⚽️ Three points for the three lions ⚽️ Working in football

With the month of March into its final week, I didn’t want to neglect the pike fishing, which I’ve been thoroughly enjoying.

Therefore, I had a couple of hours with sardines on a pool.

I’ve written about the fact that I only use one treble hook but, as we all know, you still lose fish even if your trace comprises two.

Therefore, when I had a lost fish, I wasn’t blaming the hook approach because these things happen anyway.

There’s nothing like then going on to bank a fish though, is there. It’s the perfect antidote to any disappointment that you might have.

That was the case when a small pike picked up the sardine tail and made its way into the landing net.

The pike in the pool are only small but I’m enjoying it and, as I say in the video, I might get more serious when the next season gets underway.

For now though, especially with just a week to go, I’m just happy to catch regardless of size.

Tackle: Wychwood Extremis 3lb pike rod/Wychwood Extremis 50 reel and Shakespeare 3lb rod/Regal X 4050BRT reel. 16lb Sufix Synergy line. Greys Prowla 30g and Drennan Zeppler 35g floats.

Nature notes: Chiffchaff singing in the immediate area (not seen), common buzzard in low flight across the pool.

With England playing this evening, I decided to watch the match on television.

It was obvious from the beginning that Latvia’s game plan was to put everyone behind the ball.

You can’t blame them – or any team that employs that tactic – as it’s up to the opponent to pick the lock.

In this instance, England’s dominance paid off with a 3-0 victory.

I would describe it as a professional performance.

Watching the England v Latvia match reminded me that I haven’t been to a game myself since December 22 last year.

That’s just over three months and I must say I haven’t missed football at all.

That doesn’t mean to say though that I won’t get back to working in the beautiful game in some way, shape or form in the future.

I’m just open-minded about it and extremely relaxed one way or the other.
