📻 🎣 Radio, fishing and I see my favourite mammal
After doing my weekly Bayside Radio chats with Jeff Pearson, where we talk angling and Welsh football, I then went fishing myself.
It’s nice to talk about it, but like most things, you can’t beat doing it.
I intended to visit a pool that I haven’t fished for many years but, after aimlessly driving around country lanes, I gave up and headed for another local water that I knew how to get there.
I float-fished two maggots one rod-length from the bank in eight feet of water, over brown crumb and loose maggots.
However, although I was confident, I didn’t get a flicker on the float or even a sucked maggot.
It’s the way it goes sometimes.
As I was driving back to the main road, along the track, a brown hare ran across and into the field to my right.
Although dusk was in its latter phase, I got great views of the majestic creature, just a few yards away in the stubble field.
It then dropped down and I continued my journey.
I may not have caught a fish but I was absolutely thrilled to have been up close and personal with a hare.
