⚽️ The Duncan Edwards statue in Dudley: Manchester United and England legend
The word legend is used far too liberally in my view. However, when it comes to Duncan Edwards, it is a fitting tribute. Born in Dudley in 1936, by the time he was 21, he had played 175 times for Manchester United.
In addition, he had won 18 England caps, scoring 5 goals in the process. Sadly, it all came to an end on February 6, 1958, on what is known as the Munich air disaster. A fighter, Duncan Edwards battled bravely, but sadly slipped into eternity 15 days later.
