💻 Tench fishing to start the day

🎣 All is quiet on the tinca front

With enough external journalists interested in the press conference with The New Saints’ head coach, Craig Harrison, ahead of the biggest game in TNS’ history, the bottom line was I didn’t need to go in to work today.

I would have gone fishing anyway, it just meant that I could continue with my early morning tench on the lake, as opposed to the River Severn after work.

I hooked into a tinca early on, but after a few seconds, I was reeling in without the fish.

Then it went very quiet. Very quiet indeed.

🪱 Tackle, bait and tactics

Fox Barbel Special 1.5 test curve rod and an Okuma Zeon reel.

6lb Maxima Chameleon, with a six-inch hook-length created by a small shot and 8mm bead.

Above that was a 1/2 ounce lead. Size 10 Drennan Super Specialist hook.

Single grain of corn over brown crumb and sweetcorn, twenty metres out.

🦆 Nature notes

House martins (2) passing through in southerly direction.

Likewise four swallows, it’s that time of the year.

Female sparrowhawk in flight high over the lake.
