💻 Tench fishing, radio, shopping and do men ever grow up?

🎣 An early start on the lake

I was up at 5.30 this morning and it was still dark.

The days are definitely getting shorter but, the positive news is that the water temperature is still good for fishing, and especially so as far as the summer species are concerned.

Continuing with my tench campaign, I headed to the lake that has featured very much in my blog posts over the last few months.

Although the tinca fishing has been slow of late, nevertheless this morning I had something to write – and talk about – as you can see in the accompanying video.

🪱 Tackle, bait and tactics

Fox Barbel Special 1.5 test curve rod and an Okuma Zeon reel.

6lb Maxima Chameleon, with a six-inch hook-length created by a small shot and 8mm bead.

Above that was a 1/2 ounce lead. Size 10 Drennan Super Specialist hook.

Single grain of corn over brown crumb and sweetcorn, twenty metres out.

🦆 Nature notes

Sparrowhawk (female) in flight across the lake.

House martin in southerly migration flight.

Swallows (7) passing through on migration.

📻 Talking fishing and Welsh football on Bayside Radio

Once I was back from the lake, I showered, changed and was ready for my weekly chats with Jeff Pearson.

Based in Colwyn Bay, in north Wales, I have a Thursday afternoon slot where we talk fishing, and then a day later it’s Welsh football.

I enjoy doing both and you can see some of the angling footage in the video.

🛍️ Shopping, it’s as easy as one, two, three… four

With a mini-family gathering about to take place at Merry Hill shopping centre, I tagged on just for a few minutes or so at the start of the adventure.

Combined with the shop that I visited on the way, I made four purchases.

I went to each store, bought the items and was out again in no time at all.

Is that a man thing?

Do men ever grow up?

Talking of ‘man thing’, there’s more on that in the video.

Generally speaking, are men silly and childish when compared to women?

I can only speak for myself, and say yes.
