🎣 An early morning wrasse fishing session at Trearddur Bay 🗳️ Away from home but still voting

I didn’t need to set an alarm, after all I’m on holiday, and the tides are flexible in terms of when to fish. It’s not like my previous vacation, when it had to be high tide at Rhyl and low water at Talacre.

I was still up early though, as I made my way to the rocks at Trearddur Bay. The walk from our bungalow to the fishing spot is very pleasant and I captured that in the video.

This is one of those places that I could very happily move to and live permanently. It’s on the coast, it’s a great environment to be in and it’s in Wales. What is there not to love about it?

We’ve been blessed with good weather as well this week. There were just a few spits and spots of rain on arrival – with heavier rainfall during the night – but since then it’s been dry.

In fact, I would have taken these conditions in advance and been more than happy. That’s the British weather for you. You can go on holiday in August and be rained out but take a vacation in March and get a sun tan.

Back to the session and, once again, the fishing was good. I caught both ballan and corkwing wrasse, with some nice fish on the rocks, both in size and colour. Then it was back to the bungalow and time for breakfast.

Although I’m on holiday, I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to vote in the council elections. Therefore, for the first time, I went down the postal route.

I got it sorted, for both my wife and me, well in advance so that, barring it getting ‘lost in the post’, my vote counted. I’ve always voted in every election since I was eighteen.

We had five candidates from the following parties: Conservative, Green, Labour, Lib Dem and Reform. I’ve never been a floating voter and I knew exactly where my X was going.

Sometimes you are on the winning side, other times not, but for me it’s important to vote. I think, on this occasion, I will have voted for the new councillor. I’ll find out tomorrow.
