Pool fishing for a spring species
Although I blanked in the freezing conditions, I still enjoyed my tench session on the first of the month.
I was jumping the gun again this time round because, before I could pull off from the drive, I was scraping ice from the car windshield.
There is a particular pool that I’ve caught the occasional tench from in the past when I’ve been after other species.
That’s where I headed and I was realistic enough to know that it was going to be a massive challenge.
As far as the tincas are concerned, that was the case.
Less than two hours fishing was also a challenge as well.
Although no tench on the bank, I did catch a couple of decent enough roach.
Tackle: Fox Barbel Special 11’ 1.5 test curve rod and an Okuma Zeon reel loaded with 6lb Maxima Chameleon. The bomb was 3/8 ounce and the hook a size 10 Drennan Super Specialist.
Nature notes: Three very vocal ring-necked parakeets passed overhead. Calling raven in flight. Pair of grey wagtails.
