A visit to Midgley Park in Belfast, as Linfield FC played The New Saints

For the third and final game on the island of Ireland, The New Saints visited Midgley Park, where we played Linfield FC.

Situated in the shadow of Windsor Park, it’s an excellent facility and especially on a beautiful day, such as it was for us, a nice setting with the hills providing a picturesque backdrop.

Arguably, the game against Linfield was always going to be the toughest of the three and, especially with them being one after the other, it wasn’t the end of the world that we lost 2-0.

In fact, it wouldn’t have been if it was the first played of the trio.

It really was about minutes for players and that’s why there were so many changes during each game.

If being 2-0 down at the break bothered Craig Harrison, he would have put his strongest side out.

It didn’t and that’s why he stuck to the plan of substitutions.
