Back on the crucian carp trail
A week or so back I fished a pool for crucian carp and, although I didn’t catch one, I was encouraged by a few plucks.
They are elusive after all and not widely widespread.
What is particularly appealing about the venue in question is that, apart from tench, it’s a pool where crucians enjoy dominance.
Fishing a couple of rods – one single maggot under a float and a grain of corn on a quiver tip – I put some brown crumb out on arrival and some of the respective baits in the areas I was fishing.
The float was just beyond the drop-off in eight feet of water and the light leger alongside lilies and overhanging trees.
After several blanks on the pool, I finally caught, and all is revealed in the video below.
