A morning angling session and the one that got away — Talking fishing and Welsh football on radio

Once everything was loaded in the car, I made my way to a pool, where I spent the next two hours. Or so.

I don’t know if you’re like me but, whatever your plans are in terms of time on the bank, invariably you stay longer.

I fished a simple approach, with my leger rod ready to go once I pieced the two sections together.

Once assembled, it was just a case of putting a grain of corn on the size 10 hook and casting out.

The underwater vegetation is starting to come through now and, while it makes fishing difficult, it’s not impossible.

The key is that once I cast out, I tighten very gently to the small bomb but make sure I don’t go beyond that and drag the bait.
