A British black and white movie from 1947, Uncle Silas was filmed at Denham Studios in Buckinghamshire.
No longer in use, the film studios ran from 1936 until 1952.
It features Jean Simmons as Caroline Ruthyn, Katina Paxinou as Madame de la Rougierre and Derrick De Marney as Uncle Silas.
Also in the movie, playing a small part, is John Laurie (Private Frazer from Dad’s Army).
When her father dies, Caroline, who is seventeen-years-old, is sent to stay with her Uncle Silas.
