Fishing this morning was on a pool, where I presented two white maggots on a size 14 hook under a small waggler.
The pool is quite shallow and where I fished was at the deeper end, which is only about a metre.
I haven’t used crumb for a while, especially with the small pool type venue, you don’t want to overfeed the fish or attract pike.
The stock levels aren’t always what you expect from a regular fishery plus, with the water temperatures being low at the moment, the last thing you want to be doing anyway is throwing too much feed out.
It’s best to gauge the feeding activity and respond likewise with, in my case, the loose maggots that you go with.
