Zulu, filmed in South Africa but ‘not a bit as good as Bala and the lake there’

Zulu is a classic film and I’m sure there can’t be many who haven’t watched it at some point.

Released in 1964, it stars Stanley Baker (John Chard) and Michael Caine (Gonville Bromhead) as the two lead officers.

The Zulu chief, Cetshwayo, is played by Mangosuthu Buthelezi, who is a traditional leader and still alive today, at the age of 94.

Chief Cetshwayo was his great-grandfather in real-life.

If you’re a fan of Minder, Dave from the Winchester (Glynn Edwards) is in the movie as well.
