It’s a remake of My Favourite Wife, which goes back to 1940.
That’s a great movie and, instead of Irene Dunne, Cary Grant and Gail Patrick battling out the two-into-three-doesn’t-go scenario, it’s the trio of aforementioned actors who do the impossible love arithmetic.
The plot is the same, the wife is presumed dead and after five years she’s legally declared so and the husband marries again.
Between the wedding and the honeymoon though, the wife turns up.
She’s been stranded on an island for five years.
