After three blanks while deadbaiting for pike on a lake – plus one while lure fishing after perch – I was very confident that I’d turn that round this morning.
I was on a different venue (woodland pool) and more crucially, going for a more encompassing approach (float fishing with maggots).
I fished with a small waggler float in four feet of water.
Just a rod length from the bank, I trickled in maggots and sloppy brown crumb to keep the fish keen.
I started catching early in the session, as small roach took the two/three maggots on a size 12 hook.
