Welcome to Holyhead Breakwater Country Park

My wife and I love Holyhead Breakwater Country Park and, staying in nearby Trearddur Bay, it’s very close.

We end up paying it a visit several times during a holiday as it’s one of those places that draws you back.

It opened in 1990, and the area around the car park is where the old quarry is sited, which provided stone for the breakwater.

Extending out to sea for 1.5 miles, the breakwater is the longest in Europe.

It took several years to build as well, from 1846 until 1873.
