Born in the Whitmore Reans suburb of Wolverhampton, which is in the immediate Molineux area, Wolves was Sir Jack’s boyhood club.

Going on to become an extremely successful businessman, Sir Jack bought Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1990, for £2 million plus.

During his seventeen years reign as owner and chairman, he spent an estimated £70 million of his own money on writing off debts, developing Molineux and buying players.

When he finally sold the club, he did so for just £10, on the basis that the new owner invested £30 million.

What a man! And the reason that he’s in my top-five Wolves legends.

I was so pleased for Sir Jack, when the club finally made the top-flight of English football, in the 2003-2004 season.

I was a season ticket holder back then and saw the Championship play-off victory in Cardiff, against Sheffield United, that secured promotion.
