Late evening lure session on the Staffordshire/Worcestershire Canal

As well as the fish I caught, I did have a couple of tiny perch around the lure as I drew it to the surface, which reinforces my previous comment.

On that occasion though, they let their potential meal go.

Towards the end of the session, which was in close proximity to a lock, several pipistrelles were feeding.

Although some people think that you only see bats in the summer, the reality is that you can encounter them throughout the year.

As we leave summer behind though, they won’t be as common as during the warmer months of the year.

Nevertheless, some will still be feeding in milder spells.
