After yesterday’s lost perch, returning to the same pool I changed tackle slightly.
The 4lb line went straight through to a size 14 hook and I fished with double maggots.
Although I expected to catch far less roach, I didn’t. I lost count of the number of fish, with some of them being quite decent for the venue.
I didn’t get a single perch though. It’s the way it goes sometimes, isn’t it.
Still, I caught and really enjoyed the short afternoon session. That, ultimately, is what it’s all about.
The tackle used was as follows:
Greys Prodigy 12’ rod and a Shimano 3500 reel loaded with Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.
The float was a 0.6g Drennan Crystal Waggler.
The hook was a Drennan Super Specialist size 14 with two white maggots.
I fished one rod length from the bank in three feet of water and fed sloppy brown crumb and loose maggots.
