Eleven Weeks To Go… The Ones That Got Away… Today’s Angling Session

I’ll be sixty years old eleven weeks from today.

Without doubt, none of us want to get older but you cannot stop the march of time, and so what you need to do is make the most of every day.

On that front, my sixties will be my best decade ever.

Today’s angling session can be followed via the video below.

It’s a sign that the water temperature is on the increase because perch have started to feed again.

I caught lots of roach and perch plus a single rudd/roach hybrid.

I started fishing two lengths out but ended up much closer in, as I tried to avoid pike in the swim.

I also switched from a size 18 hook to a 16 after losing a big perch.

It didn’t work, as I lost another courtesy of a second hook-pull.

I thoroughly enjoyed the session though and rather than dwell on the disappointment of lost fish, I was even more motivated to get out again.

Not that I need much motivation to go fishing.

The tackle used was as follows:

Greys Prodigy 12’ rod and a Shimano 3500 reel loaded with Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

There was 4 feet length of 3lb 8oz Drennan Team England joined by a loop-to-loop knot.

The float was a 0.6g Drennan Crystal Waggler.

The hook was a Drennan Super Specialist size 18/16 with a single white maggot.
