Fishing Tips On Pioneering A Small Brook

I’ve had several messages from fellow anglers recently, who have commented regarding the brook sessions that I regularly do.

Fishing these tiny waterways might not set the angling world alight but for some it has definitely sparked an interest.

I went out this afternoon on a brook to do some pioneering and hopefully inspire a few more fellow anglers.

While I explored – and fished – I shared a few tips along the way.

The tackle fished with was as follows:

Poachers Pocket mini-rod and reel.

Reel line was 4lb Maxima Chameleon, leading to Ultima Virage 1lb 6oz fluorocarbon, joined by a loop-to-loop knot.

There was a size 6 shot about four inches from the hook.

The hook was a Kamasan size 16, with a single white maggot as bait.

I use a white maggot as it stands out better in the water.
