Looking at my recent lead images for perch, they all look the same. I make no apologies for that, as I’m thoroughly enjoying myself pursuing my favourite species on the local canal network.
This evening, I was again next to a lock, and you can follow the session below. I had a couple of hook-pulls after I finished filming, so it was just on the right side of the line this time.
The water temperature was 13.6C, so rising, as the mild spell continues.
I fished with the following tackle: Fox Barbel Specialist 1.5 test curve rod and a Shimano DL2500FA reel.
The reel was loaded with 4lb Maxima Chameleon straight through to a Drennan Super Specialist size 16 hook, which was attached via a blood knot.
A size 6 Dinsmores shot and a 5mm ESP shock bead created the six-inch hook-length, with a 1/4 ounce bomb above the bead.
I fished with a single white maggot on the hook and fed balls of brown crumb and white bread laced with mixed maggots.
