It’s been a while since I fished for the mini-species, I thought to myself. Therefore, with the stickleback bug biting, I headed for a small brook that has been kind to me whenever I’ve paid it a visit.
You can follow the session via the video, as well as thoughts on floods and how they change the nature of flowing water.
The tackle I fished with was as follows: Poachers Pocket mini-rod and reel.
Reel line was 4lb Maxima Chameleon, leading to Ultima Virage 1lb 6oz fluorocarbon, joined by a loop-to-loop knot.
I nipped a size 4 shot on the line and the hook was a Drennan Super Specialist micro barbed size 18. Bait was a single white maggot.
Hi there,
I reckon you’ve caught the same fish a few times on various visits!

There’s no doubt about it, there will have been a few repeat captures. Some very nice fish in this particular brook though, several decent specimens can be spotted during a session.
