🎣 A damp squib to the end of the angling month but there’s always something to talk about
It might be the end of March and the general weather conditions are excellent but, as far as my angling has been concerned, it may as well have been the depths of winter.
In fact, as far as fish on the bank is concerned, I saw more more activity in January and February than I have done over the last few days.
Mind you, I did a couple of tench sessions on a lake to see if I could pick up an early tinca.
It’s one of those venues where the surface is like a jacuzzi in the summer, when they get their heads down, but I didn’t even see one bubble and my grain of sweetcorn remained untouched.
I was more disappointed that the pike didn’t want to play ball though, on the small pool where I had been catching previously.
In three sessions – admittedly short ones – I had two enquiries on the sardine tail.
They were both dropped fairly quickly and with no marks at all on the fish, I did wonder if another species had picked up the bait, mouthed it and then ejected it.
Never mind, there’s always tomorrow,
