The Case Of The Vanished Detective is a Sherlock Holmes television movie from 1955.
It stars Ronald Howard as Holmes, H. Marion Crawford as Dr. Watson and Archie Duncan as Inspector Lestrade.
Holmes goes missing and Watson, accompanied by Lestrade, sets out to solve the mystery.
He initially comes across him in disguise but doesn’t recognise him.
A released prisoner is out to kill the judge who sentenced him.
They arrive just in time and Lestrade shoots the convict as he’s strangling the judge.
