I presented a couple of white maggots on a size 14 hook on the bottom and fed brown crumb and mixed maggots.
It was very slow and even an hour in, not only was I without a bite but there was no sign of fish activity anywhere on the pool.
Then, I had a slight dip on the float but after three hours of fishing that proved to be the only excitement of the session, with the pool remaining dead as far as our scaled friends are concerned.
One other angler arrived towards the end, Alex, who I have known for a few years.
He fishes the neighbouring pool a lot and told me there had been goosanders on there recently.
