The lesson from the 1953 movie, The Hitch-Hiker, is don’t stop for a waving thumb when you’re going on a fishing trip

A black and white 1953 American movie, The Hitch-Hiker (love the hyphen, in many ways we’ve lost the use of correct grammar today as language has evolved) is pretty much based around three characters.

Friends Ray (Edmond O’Brien) and Gilbert (Frank Lovejoy) are on their way to go fishing when they stop for a hitch-hiker.

The man, Emmett (William Talmer), is a dangerous criminal on the run from the police.

He takes the pair hostage and the film reaches a climax when the police finally catch up them.

An enjoyable movie but, although we see their angling gear, they never got to use it.
