Afterwards, I watched a documentary on Amazon with my wife, about the Lancaster bomber raids in the Second World War.
It was fascinating and, what made it even more so, was the family link that my wife has.
In 1943, her great-uncle, William Lesley Whitehouse, was in a Lancaster bomber that was shot down over the Netherlands.
His grave is there, along with vast numbers of others who lost their lives in Europe during the twentieth century,
