Welcome to Beaumaris

Beaumaris began life as a Viking settlement, but it was the latter part of the thirteenth century (1295) that it began to develop, when Edward I began building the castle.

Having been successful in a conflict against the Welsh, he built a series of castles including Caernarfon, Conwy and Harlech.

There are some very old, historic and well-preserved buildings in the town.

The timber-framed Tudor Rose house goes back to the fourteenth century, for example.
