In 1934, the Duke and Duchess of Kent chose the stately home for their honeymoon.

Two years later, Edward VIII spent his last weekend before his abdication at Himley Hall.

In addition, highlighting its high-flying social importance in the early decades of the twentieth century, the likes of Winston Churchill, Gracie Fields and the King and Queen of Spain stayed there.

How many people visiting the grounds today realise the history of the place?

In fact, I was telling my granddaughter that Winston Churchill had been there, thinking he’d be the one most likely that she would know.
