Early carrion crows, a new female bullfinch and a pond update – Garden nature

I was up nice and early the other day – 5.30 a.m. to be precise – and, as always, I had a look through the upstairs (we live in a dormer bungalow) window to see what early birds were in the garden.

There were three carrion crows on the ground directly beneath the feeding station and another on the bungalow roof below us.

They’re very flighty birds however and, even though I tried my best to keep a low profile, as soon as I was back at the window to try and film them, they were off.
