The brook itself was extremely low and, although the water was moving through, in places it was just a trickle.
Close to the source, it’s not much of a waterway at the best of times.
It contains some specimen three-spined sticklebacks though and that’s the attraction.
It really was hard going this morning and there was a point at which I thought to myself, are there any fish still in here.
There were, they were just extremely elusive and tucked away deep inside undercut banks, or hidden beneath whatever cover they could find.
