Adult And Juvenile Starlings In The Garden

This year looks like being a repeat of 2021, as far as starlings are concerned.

We only get occasional sightings in the garden outside the breeding season and then, come late spring and summer, they’re here in numbers.

Not only do we get lots of adults first, gathering food for their young, but a few weeks later the juveniles themselves pay us a visit.

It’s great to see them and they are easily distinguishable, with the young birds a brown colour as they have yet to develop the plumage of their parents.
