Hailing from Tipton in the Black Country, Bully – as he became affectionately known to Wolves fans – played amateur football in the early days of his career.
That’s what many players did back then, in the days before the professional and slick academy systems that we have today.
It was while playing for Tipton Town that he signed for West Bromwich Albion, while aged nineteen.
Two years later though, in 1986, he made the move that would go on to cement his legendary status across the other side of the Black Country. He signed for Wolves.
