I’ve been working from home today and it was quite late in the afternoon when I finally managed to load the car to go fishing.
That was fine though, because I was after perch on a local pool, and prime time was always going to be the hour up to dark.
That proved to be the case and I avoided a blank with small perch on the bank.
I struck into a very good fish, though, that slipped the hook.
You win some and you lose some. Indeed.
I also had an active pike in the swim so actually did well to catch anything.
I fished with a small waggler float (0.6 g) presenting a single maggot on a size 18 hook.
The water was about a metre deep and I fished two rod lengths from the bank.
Nice and easy fishing and I parked the car by the pool.
I’ll be back after the big perch. As they say, watch this space.
