With the River Severn running low at the moment, it’s ideal for chub fishing.
I always feel those cold winter nights are synonymous with chevin.
There’s something about sitting by the side of a river in a sub-zero temperature, watching an isotope, with your landing net frozen to the ground that only an angler would understand.
It’s been a long time since I fished the Severn for chub and I enjoyed my visit very much indeed.
While it was still light, I hooked into a big chub only for it to be taken by an even bigger (naturally) pike.
I lost both.
It did come good in the end though.
