The New Saints’ midfielder, Tom Holland, has been mentioning going fishing to me for a while now.
With the players – and myself – currently off for two weeks, this was the ideal opportunity.
I booked a guest ticket on a venue where I’m a member of a club and Tom got himself a one-day EA rod licence.
The weather changed considerably from when we originally arranged the session.
At least Tom got thrown in the deep end, so to speak.
As I said to him, while we sat in mud with rain and wind all around, welcome to my world.
Although I didn’t fish myself, so I could concentrate on helping Tom, I still enjoyed it very much.
