I’m Pleased With That, Actually I’m Over The Moon – A Morning Canal Session Definitely Worth Getting Out Of Bed For

Although I did have the alarm clock set for 6.00 a.m. this morning, I was up naturally anyway, just before five.

It meant that I was on the canal itself at first-light. With gudgeon and small perch on the bank, I was still happy to be out and about.

However, my last cast, about eight-thirty, produced the fish that you can see in the lead image.

There’s more, as always, in the video below.

I fished with a Greys Prodigy 12’ rod and a Shimano 3500 reel loaded with Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

There was 5 feet length of 2lb 8oz Ultima Virage fluorocarbon joined by a loop-to-loop knot.

The float was a 0.6g Drennan Crystal Waggler. The hook was a Drennan Super Specialist size 18.

I fished the boat channel, with brown crumb and mixed maggots and single maggot on the hook
