1.00 p.m.
There’s so much football on television that it’s possible to become fatigued. I certainly feel that way, as my viewing habits have become very selective, as far as the beautiful game is concerned.
However, it’s FA Cup third round action this afternoon and following Leeds United’s trip to Crawley, it’s the big one for me personally, as Marine AFC host Tottenham Hotspur.
The world of football is such that over time you develop many friendships and contacts within the game.
Apart from several ex-Cymru Premier players at Marine, my personal interest is in two players in particular.
Adam Hughes and Josh Hmami both have TNS FC connections, with the former still on the books (on loan at Marine), while the latter moved on at the end of last season.
I sent them both best wishes messages on WhatsApp this morning, as they prepare for the biggest game of their respective careers to date.
The lead image is from a previous interview with Adam at Park Hall, the home of The New Saints.
1.30 p.m.
Been having further message chats with Adam and Josh. I know if they’ll be starting or not but I won’t say, just in case Jose Mourinho reads this and gets some inside information. Ha!
Joking aside, I’m really looking forward to the game. Before then though, Crawley Town v Leeds United has just kicked-off, also live on BBC One.
4.45 p.m.
It’s pre-match live from Marine. They’re talking to Richard Cross, the club secretary, who I’ve had contact with recently regarding Adam and Josh.
He’s being interviewed live, comes over well and is a great credit to the club.
5.00 p.m.
Great to see the camera in the Marine dressing room, with Adam and Josh chatting together, just before the players came out.
This is where it all starts though for real. We’re underway!
6.00 p.m.
Although it’s just half-time, the dream is all but over as Spurs enjoy a 4-0 lead at the break.
7.00 p.m.
It ended 5-0 but Marine battled well and especially up until the first goal going in, they looked very well-organised.
The cup run is over for Adam and Josh but it’s certainly been a great experience for them.
