Wolves Women 5 The New Saints Ladies FC 1. A Working Game At The CKW Stadium.

With the heavy rainfall that we have had in the last week or so, it was good to see that the game between Wolves Women and The New Saints Ladies was still on. Although it was an away fixture for TNS, for me it was as close as they get.

I’ve been to the CKW Stadium before, on several occasions, so it didn’t count as a new ground. It was a working one though, so you have to go where the matches are, as opposed to having the choice. Not that I’m complaining though, far from it.

The Midlands Division One game saw league leaders, Wolves, get off to a great start. With just six minutes on the clock. they took the lead. It looked like they would push on from there, but gradually the visitors hauled themselves back into the encounter.

After having a strike disallowed for offside, The New Saints then scored a legitimate goal, as the game hit the one-third stage. However, six minutes that they will want to forget, right at the end of the first-half, saw Wolves score four times, to go into the break 5-1 to the good.

There were no more goals in the second period, as Wolves extended their lead at the top to thirteen points. Although The New Saints remain in fourth place, with Birmingham and West Midlands Ladies and Bedworth United Ladies both just two points ahead of them in the table, the race for second spot is still very much alive.
