Blogging life’s journey: June 2025

🎣 The first session of the summer, three species of fish on the bank and the first time ever I’ve caught one of these!

Welcome to a new month. Hello, June. Hello, summer.

If you follow the meteorological calendar, then as far as the latter is concerned, it’s the first day of the season that many people look forward to most of all.

If you’re an astronomical devotee, then you have another twenty days to go.

As far as my angling is concerned though, they are all just dates on a calendar and, this morning, like every other day of the year so far, I went fishing.

On a small pool, I presented a prawn over brown crumb and prawns a couple of rod-lengths from the bank in open water.

Although I had an active pike in the swim from the off, the first two fish were small roach and perch.

Then I hooked, played and netted a tench, with the remainder of the fish also shown in the video, plus my first capture ever of a particular creature. All is revealed below!

As an angler, have you ever caught something unusual?
