🎣 A Monday morning angling blank but it’s better than being at work
After yesterday’s struggling session on a pool, with just one roach on the bank, I returned this morning. I was there an hour longer but blanked. Although I did have a few bites, none of them were anything more than slight movement on the float.
I was fishing about 1.5 rod-lengths from the bank, in a couple of metres of water, with two maggots on a size 16 hook over loose maggots. It was my standard float tackle set-up.
It would have been nice to have caught a fish but I didn’t. It was a Monday morning though and, I thought to myself, I’d sooner be blanking than at work. That’s a fact.
Nature-wise, I saw a pair of ravens, well actually two pairs, but most likely the same birds. They were calling in flight. The resident song thrushes and stock doves were very vocal as well.
