Early morning tench by design — Planning angling sessions — The-gardens-need-some-rain gang

Since then, I’ve been on two separate places.

Both are much larger than the woodland pool, and it was actually nice to cast out to a clean bottom and see the hook and bait on retrieve, rather than have it masked in vegetation.

I chose a spot where I could cast to lilies that extended a couple of rod lengths from the bank.

I mixed most of the red maggots I had in with some brown crumb, which I threw to the edge of the lilies.

You can see the tackle approach in the video and I flicked the two red maggots to the baited spot and waited.
