An afternoon session on the Staffordshire/Worcestershire Canal and the first gudgeon of the year

I fished with a waggler float, presenting two maggots on a size 14 Drennan Super Specialist hook.

I trickled a few pinkies in every time I cast out, as you certainly don’t want to overfeed the fish in these conditions.

There was an active little grebe on the stretch, which is always nice to see.

Come the final whistle, I was more than happy with the session.

Regardless of what you catch, if you’ve enjoyed your fishing then you’ve certainly hit the bullseye.
