An afternoon session on the Staffordshire/Worcestershire Canal and the first gudgeon of the year

Today has been one of those days where I fished twice.

This afternoon, I decided to have a couple of hours or so up to dark on the Staffordshire/Worcestershire Canal.

When I arrived, there was one other angler already on the stretch and he’d been there a few hours without even a bite.

Obviously, with the overnight frost and today’s low air temperature it was always going to be tough.

However, on the first cast I had a bite.
