Planet Of The Apes, where it all began in 1968

One of those movies that’s been done again for a modern audience, as well as four in the seventies and another at the turn of the century, the original Planet Of The Apes goes back to 1968.

Starring Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter and Maurice Evans, it tells the story of three astronauts who find themselves on another planet.

It’s the final scene, as per the lead image, when you realise that it isn’t another world all but earth in the future.

A future where gorillas, chimpanzees and orangutans rule and man is a mute animal considered as vermin.

The arrival of the three astronauts upsets the conventional way of thinking, although only Taylor (Charlton Heston) survives.

It’s a film I’ve seen many times over the years but always very enjoyable to watch again, even though you know what’s coming.
