A small pool angling session, fishing in the rain and staying focused but always one eye on the big picture

A week ago pretty much all non-flowing water was covered with a sheet of thick ice and the rivers were at their lowest levels.

Now, the latter are up and it’s the former that are looking good.

I had a short morning session on a small pool, with small roach providing plenty of action.

It was raining fairly heavily at times but there’s something nice about being out there fishing under an umbrella.

The water was very clear and I fished two maggots on a size 14 hook, flicking the small waggler below overhanging branches.

I loose fed a trickle of maggots by hand as I was fishing just a couple of rod lengths from the bank.

I spotted a few carp moving through the water and there’s more on that in the video.
